Authorial Intent Doesn't Matter

daily_008; another insight from running.

I’m probably never going to stop talking about running or writing in this blog, they are consistently the things I do most. Just a fair warning.

Everyone can train like a runner. You don’t necessarily have to run to do it.

They say that runners should be splitting their time, about 70/30, between long, slow runs, and short bursts of high powered intervals. In essence, endurance training and speed training.

Break any new habit, hobby, or skill into these groups- endurance and speed.

Take writing, for example. Train yourself to stop 6 separate times a day, separated by at least half an hour each segment, and write 250 words. (30 minutes is enough time to switch to another task in your day, so it trains that “muscle” of task switching)

And, in addition, train yourself to go for long periods of uninterrupted focus on one task. Start with 5 minutes longer than you think you can focus now, say 25 minutes, and increase from there.

Use this for school, for fitness, arts, crafts, hobbies or other new habits. I’m going to, as well.

Thank you for reading
